Paul Gebhardt thanks the Iditarod volunteer who handed him the "trail mail" packet that he will carry in his sled from Anchorage to Nome in the 2010 Iditarod. This packet symbolizes the mail that early mushers carried on the historic Iditarod Trail, as well as the life-saving serum that dog teams carried to Nome.

Both Paul and Kristy carriedspecial ribbons on their sleds in the Ceremonial Start of the 2010 Iditarod. The ribbons had the names of US Soldiers who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Their widows visited with us prior to the race start. View Video Read about it here:

Ever wondered what the scenery would be like if you were an IditaRider?
Rookie Kristy Berington and her twin sister, Anna, arrive into the stopping point of the Iditarod Ceremonial Start at Campbell Airstrip on the outskirts of Anchorage, Alaska. Kristy's sled rider, Sherry Lesar with Halliburton, rides in the sled.
Kristy preps gear with her sisters at the race Restart on Willow Lake.

This is the last I will see of Paul until he has traveled over 1,100 miles across the Alaskan wilderness.
